A big matchup looms Saturday in college football when No. 12 Oklahoma State will travel to Austin to take on the #25 ranked Texas Longhorns.

While past history indicates this game should be a shootout with a ton of points scored, Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy would prefer it not to head in that direction, per ESPN.

Texas' Casey Thompson threw for 388 yards and five touchdowns against Oklahoma. and the breakout of wide receiver Xavier Worthy (nine catches, 261 yards, two TDs) won't allow Oklahoma State to focus on star running back Bijan Robinson, who has rushed for 789 yards and scored 10 total TDs in six games.

Gundy, whose team ranks 89th in scoring offense, is counting on his defense against the Longhorns.

“I'd prefer not to get in a shootout with them,” he said this week.

The truth is that this Oklahoma State offense is good but hasn't been as explosive as some of the ones in recent memory. On the other side of the coin, Texas is coming off a devastating collapse against Oklahoma in a game that they scored 48 points in and still lost. The Longhorns also put up 58 against Rice earlier in the year and dropped 70 on Texas Tech.

Oklahoma State has been super stout on defense this year during their 5-0 start. The Cowboys haven't allowed more than 23 points to any opponent yet. Texas will be their biggest test to date.

If Gundy has it his way, Oklahoma State will grind the clock and keep this one on the lower scoring side of things.
