Cameron Smith has shocked the golf world by winning the 2022 Open Championship. The 28-year-old from Australia held off Rory McIlroy, who entered the day tied for the lead with Viktor Hovland, to take home the Claret Jug. After a clutch performance to take home the hardware at St. Andrews in a historic fashion, Smith let everyone know he had big plans with his new trophy.

Smith wasted no time saying that he is going to see how many beers he can fit in the Claret Jug. He thinks he can fit two cans worth of beer in the jug but that he will drink many more afterward.

Cameron Smith's beer-chugging declaration and tremendous mullet-mustache combo will make him a favorite among golf fans. A clutch birdie on the 18th hole, one of five consecutive birdies he hit down the homestretch to keep up with McIlroy, helped Cam Smith take home the win by finishing with a score of 268 and 20 strokes under par. Cameron Young finished one stroke behind him while McIlroy came in third with only one stroke behind Young.

Smith's 20-under-par is a record for the St. Andrews course and tied with Henrik Stenson for the best in Open Championship history. He was four strokes behind the leaders heading into the final round and finished the day very strongly to secure the win.

After finishing in second place at the 2020 Masters and tying for third place at this year's Augusta National, Cameron Smith has a major-title victory to his name. He will be celebrating accordingly.
