The Green Bay Packers are “hopeful” that cornerback Kevin King will play on Sunday afternoon against the Chicago Bears after King sat out this past Sunday's game with a shoulder injury:

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters that King was on schedule to draw an active designation on Sunday afternoon, which could give Green Bay's secondary an added boost against a Bears offense that is starting to get hot at the right time.

Chicago has scored 55 combined points over the course of the last two weeks while also racking up over 800 yards of total offense. They put the game away pretty early against the Dallas Cowboys last Thursday.

After getting drubbed by the San Francisco 49ers, the Packers barely managed to hold serve against the New York Giants and Washington Redskins in consecutive weeks, though they did force four key turnovers.

King, meanwhile, leads the Packers with four interceptions, finally showing the potential that the Packers envisioned when they selected him with the 33rd overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. The most important part of this season has been health, as last week was King's first “Inactive” of the season.

Green Bay's secondary has seen significant regression since the start of the year, but they have made just enough plays to keep them in the driver's seat in the NFC North.

The Packers are tied for third in the NFL with 13 interceptions on the season. They could certainly use King's ball-hawking instincts as they look to defeat the hated Bears and stay ahead of the Minnesota Vikings in the division.
