The Carolina Panthers added a few wide receivers this offseason, with Keith Kirkwood being one of them. Though, early in Carolina's training camp practices, Kirkwood is slated to miss several weeks with a broken clavicle, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Altogether, the Panthers added Robby Anderson, Pharoh Cooper, Seth Roberts, and Kirkwood in free agency. The only starting wideouts to return for Carolina are D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel.

For Kirkwood, he is looking to earn a spot on the roster as a depth option at wide receiver. Given his current injury, Kirkwood may have some catching up to do once he returns from injury in a few weeks.

Before joining the Panthers, Kirkwood spent his first two seasons in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints. In his rookie season with the Saints in 2018, he contributed 13 receptions for 209 yards and two touchdowns. But in his sophomore campaign, he would suit up in one game and would fail to log a single stat for New Orleans.

Nevertheless, at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, Kirkwood still has a chance to carve out a decent role with an NFL team. Of course, seeing that he inked a deal with them, he's likely hoping he can earn a spot with the Panthers. Teams will have until September 5 to trim their rosters down to 53 players.

With new quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, Carolina prioritized surrounding him with more weapons in the passing game. While Kirkwood wasn't going to start, he is going to miss some crucial practice time with the Panthers after suffering a broken clavicle.
