The Carolina Panthers’ passing game got a shot in the arm last Sunday when tight end Greg Olsen played in his first game since Week 2 after recovering from a foot injury that sidelined him for eight weeks. Olsen, however, did not finish the game against the New York Jets, as he was taken off the field in the second half and never returned after seemingly tweaking the same foot that recently underwent surgery.

While it’s something that’s a point of concern for Panthers fans, it appears that there’s nothing seriously wrong with Olsen’s foot and his premature exit in the Jets game was just a precautionary move on the part of Carolina. Alleviating any fears of injury, the 32-year-old veteran practiced with the team on Wednesday, suggesting that he’s on track to play in Week 13’s pivotal matchup with the New Orleans Saints.

One player's status to watch out for, though, is that of wide receiver Devin Funchess. Funchess, who hurt his toe in the 35-27 win over the Jets, did not practice Wednesday, per Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk.

Wide receiver Devin Funchess had a much bigger day in the 35-27 victory over the Jets. He caught seven passes for 108 yards to continue a run of strong play since the Panthers decided to trade Kelvin Benjamin. Funchess hurt his toe in the process, however, and he hasn’t been spotted on the practice field Wednesday.

Funchess has become the Panthers’ top receiver since they traded Kelvin Benjamin to the Buffalo Bills last month, but if he’s not greenlighted to play against the Saints, Kaelin Clay and Russell Shepard should see a nice bump in snaps and targets.

That being said, Carolina may just be giving Funchess some extra rest to get him 100 percent ready for an all-important matchup with New Orleans, which is tied with the Panthers for first place in the NFC South at 8-3.
