The Carolina Panthers chances to make the playoffs are slim, but don't tell that to coach Ron Rivera who still thinks his team can get the job done.

“Five percent, that's what they're giving us,” Rivera said Tuesday of his team's playoff chances, via Joe Person of The Athletic. “We'll see.”

“As little as (the chance) is, we've been here before,” Rivera added, mentioning 2014 when the Panthers eked into the playoffs with a 7-8-1 record.

During the 2014 season, the Panthers had to win their final four games to squeak into the playoffs and to do it this year they are probably going to need to win their final three. The Panthers currently have a nine percent chance to make the playoffs, which is third behind the Minnesota Vikings and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Minnesota controls their own destiny, finishing their season against the Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, and the Chicago Bears. The Eagles' schedule isn't easy either, finishing up against the Los Angeles Rams, Houston Texans, and the Washington Redskins.

The Panthers probably have the hardest schedule of any of the remaining three teams. They get to play the New Orleans Saints twice and then a matchup against the Atlanta Falcons in between. There is no doubt there is an opening with the schedules for the other two teams but for the Panthers to even have a chance they need to start winning games, something they have had issues doing as of late.

The pressure is on now though and if they miss the playoffs will Riverboat Ron be looking for a new job?
