There is plenty of speculation regarding the future of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. Whether or not he returns, it appears head coach Bill Belichick is optimistic about finding a solution for the 2020 NFL season.

Brady is set to test the market as an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Tom E. Curran of NBC Sports said during an appearance on WEEI that Belichick has no problem parting ways if both sides can't see eye-to-eye.

“At a price, yeah. From all I've gathered, he would prefer to have Tom playing QB in 2020…if it comes to a crossroads, [Belichick] can easily get his mind around saying goodbye [to Brady] as well…”

The prospect of Brady leaving New England certainly seems rather far-fetched considering all that he has accomplished. The reports of Belichick being completely okay with it is also a difficult notion for fans to wrap their heads around.

After all, Brady had seemingly provided some reassurance with his Super Bowl commercial for Hulu. He states that he was not going anywhere while standing in Gillette Stadium. Regardless, it is clear that his status could very well still be up in the air.

Unlike previous years where Brady's future was brought into question, Belichick has yet to shore up a viable contingency plan in the event of his potential departure. Although the Patriots took Stidham in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, there has been little indication that he is ready to take over as the starter.
