Tom Brady departed from the New England Patriots after a long, successful career with them and it's a feeling that Joe Montana knows all too well. Montana, who's often compared to Brady, exclaimed why he believes Brady chose to part ways with New England.

“Honestly, I was shocked they let him get out of New England,” Montana said. “I would have thought they would have done everything they could to try to keep him there. …I spoke to Tom while we were at the Super Bowl. I don’t think he was happy with the way things were progressing there and his ability to have input. I think that was a big decision for him to make, to leave there. Obviously, it’s a place he’s had a ton of success at. Going to another team, he chose a pretty good one, I think.”

From 2001-2019, Brady would call Foxborough home as he was the starting quarterback for the Patriots. The future Hall of Famer would win six Super Bowls in his time in New England. Nevertheless, after 20 seasons, the Patriots decided to move on from the perennial All-Pro.

Many fans and the media alike have questioned why New England and Tom Brady chose to go their separate ways. While rumors continue to run rampant, Montana believes Brady's lack of input led to him leaving the team that drafted him in 2000.

At the end of Montana's illustrious career, he left the San Francisco 49ers and joined the Kansas City Chiefs. After experiencing a similar situation as Brady, Montana is confident that Brady made the right choice in signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this offseason.
