The New England Patriots took a step back on Sunday afternoon after going through a discouraging 34-10 loss to the Tennessee Titans that snapped a six-game winning streak. In addition to the defeat, veteran wide receiver Julian Edelman suffered an ankle injury that forced him to be pulled out of the game.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, there isn't much concern with Edelman's injury, as it is not believed to be serious and may not lead to him missing any playing time.

The injury occurred in the second half and forced Edelman out to be examined. He was able to walk off the field and into the locker room under his own power. What should also have the Patriots feeling positive about the situation is that the team is heading into their Week 11 bye, giving him more time to rest and get back on the field with the chance to not miss any time playing time moving forward.

Since making his return to the field from the four-game suspension for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy, Edelman has been a major factor offensively in the passing game as one of Tom Brady's primary targets. He has secured 40 of 56 targets for 426 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Prior to suffering the ankle injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game, Edelman had poured in nine catches on 12 targets for 104 receiving yards, which marked his second 100 receiving yards performance this season and second in the last three games.

The Patriots will continue to monitor this situation moving forward over the next couple of weeks in order to determine if it will require him to miss any playing time. In the meantime, New England doesn't appear to be too worried about Edelman's health.
