Kansas City Chiefs running back Damien Williams may be playing with a little chip on his shoulder in the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots this Sunday.

In April 2017, the Patriots hosted Williams in a workout, but chose not to sign him (via Field Yates of ESPN).

Williams ended up staying with the Miami Dolphins, the team he ending up spending the first four years of his NFL career with.

However, last March, the Chiefs ended up signing Williams.

During the regular season, Williams' impact was limited, as he rushed for just 256 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 5.1 yards per carry. He also caught 23 passes for 160 yards and a couple of scores.

However, during Kansas City's Divisional Round playoff win over the Indianapolis Colts last weekend, Williams broke out, racking up 129 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries while also hauling in five receptions for 25 yards.

Williams' workload increased later in the regular season after the Chiefs released Kareem Hunt, as he rushed for 49, 103 and 51 yards, respectively, in Weeks 15, 16 and 17 while tallying three of his four rushing touchdowns over that span.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Oklahoma, went undrafted but signed with the Dolphins as a free agent in May 2014.

His impact in Miami was very limited, as he totaled just three rushing scores in four years with the team, with all three of his touchdowns coming during the 2016 campaign.

However, Williams has always been a solid receiver, recording 108 receptions for 893 yards and eight touchdowns throughout his career.
