The New England Patriots have made another savvy signing. According to Ian Rapoport, wide receiver Cameron Meredith has agreed to a deal with the Pats.

While this might not seem like a huge addition to the roster, it has the potential to be another elite add for Bill Belichick.

Meredith broke out with the Chicago Bears in 2016, tallying 888 yards with an otherwise terrible offense. Going into 2017, the former Illinois State standout was expected to be a focal point of the Chicago air attack. Meredith tore his ACL, and has never been the same.

After missing all of 2017, the New Orleans Saints picked him up, but saw almost no production from him. But with another year of recovery, it's possible Meredith becomes a legitimate weapon for Tom Brady.

Assuming the former Saint makes the Patriots' roster, he would help round out a sneakily deep wide receiver group.

Projected starters N'Keal Harry, and Julian Edelman have fairly secure spots, but the third receiving spot is up for grabs. As of now, former Washington Redskin Maurice Harris is the favorite. Meredith can easily challenge Harris for the spot. Veteran receiver Demaryius Thomas is also on the roster, but is recovering from a torn ACL.

Because of future hall-of-famer Rob Gronkowski's retirement, there's plenty of targets to go around in New England.

If Cameron Meredith can prove himself in Foxborough, expect him to be on the receiving end of quite a few of those.
