N'Keal Harry was forced to exit the New England Patriotā€˜s preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday with an apparent shoulder injury. The injury came on a deep ball from quarterback Mac Jones:

To add insult to injury, Harry failed to haul in a perfect throw that would've resulted in a 50+ yard gain. The Patriots still ended up winning 35-0, but the injury to Harry certainly put a damper on things.

Jim McBride from The Boston Globe reported that Harry was holding his left arm close to his chest. McBride said Harry was holding his left arm as if it was in a sling.

Harry, the Patriots first-round pick in the 2019 draft at No. 32 overall has failed to live up to the expectations that came with his draft pedigree. He's totaled 45 catches on 81 targets for 414 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns over his two seasons, good for a 55.6% catch rate.

His third season certainly has high hopes, as the promise of an eventual takeover by Mac Jones of the starting QB job could spark a fire in the New England receiving core of Nelson Agholor, Jakobi Meyers, and N'Keal Harry, plus tight ends Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith.

Though the Patriots had a subpar season in 2020, going 7-9 and finishing third in the AFC East, they've never been bad for long during Bill Belichick's tenure as head coach. With the additions of Henry, Smith, and Agholor, the addition of Jones at quarterback and Matthew Judon at linebacker, and Dont'a Hightower's return, the Patriots should be right up there in contention with the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills.
