The New England Patriots will be heading to their rescheduled Monday Night Football encounter against the Kansas City Chiefs with an undermanned roster.

Patriots starting quarterback Cam Newton tested positive for COVID-19 which recently sidelined him, followed by running back Sony Michel who was also ruled out of the game, according to the team's official Twitter account.

The third-year back was limited in practice all week and is currently nursing his quad injury heading into their Week 4 matchup. His absence could deal a huge blow for the Patriots offense after he racked up 117 rushing yards on 9 carries in their Week 3 win against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Veteran ball-carrier Rex Burkhead who came out with two scored touchdowns in their recent game could receive the majority of the team's snaps in the backfield. Undrafted rookie rusher J.J. Taylor will also look to contribute to the team's ground attack while a familiar face in sophomore running back Damien Harris hopes to be activated after being sidelined with a hand injury.

Offensive captain James White will also make his comeback on the field after missing two-straight weeks after his parents encountered a tragic incident. Wide receiver James Edelman, guard Shaq Mason, offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn, and defensive tackle Adam Butler are also questionable for Monday's game.

Despite the shorthanded rotation, Bill Belichick will aim to score an upset and snag their third-straight win of the season. Meanwhile, the reigning Super Bowl champions will hope to preserve their unblemished record and cruise to a hot 4-0 start in the early stages of their 2020 campaign.
