The New England Patriots offensive line took a major blow earlier this week with David Andrews dealing with blood clots. When someone goes down it's time for someone else to step up, and that's how Ted Karras is looking at this situation.

Karras is expected to be the starting center with Andrews out, and he is just trying to take the situation week by week.

“I’m just going to come in every day, work my hardest and do anything I can to help the team,” Karras said via masslive.com. “It’s been a good month so far. I’m trying to improve every day, take the coaching that Coach (Bill) Belichick, Coach (Josh) McDaniels and Coach (Dante) Scarnecchia give me and take it day by day.”

Andrews was back at practice on Tuesday but only as a spectator, and it's unclear when or if he will be back with the team this year. Karras said he was glad to see Andrews back at practice and talked about how good of friends the two teammates have become.

“I love David as a brother. He’s a great man and a great football player,” Karras said. “I talk to Dave. We’ve been friends for four years. I’ll let him speak for how he’s doing. I’m here for him and I’ll always be a friend. It was great (to see him at practice). He’s a big part of the team. He’s been a leader for us for a long time now. Having him around is a big plus for our team.”

There is no doubt Karras is a bit of a downgrade from Andrews, but that isn't a knock on Karras, it's just about how great Andrews was.

It's good that Tom Brady and Karras have a couple of weeks to get on the same page and hopefully the offense won't miss a step.
