NFL teams are beginning to wise up to the process. More and more, teams are realizing that the draft is often akin to throwing darts at a board, and volume is key. The more draft picks you own in the later rounds, the more likely you are to hit.

Occasionally you can hit the jackpot with a later pick, and there's probably no better example of that than Tom Brady. Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports recently undertook the difficult task of ranking the 100 best value picks of all time, and he put Brady first.

Given Brady's success, it's not exactly surprising. Brady was unheralded as a pro prospect, and ended up falling to the New England Patriots in the sixth round.

With the 199th overall selection in the 2000 draft, the Patriots made what is probably the best pick in NFL history.

It didn't take long for Brady to ascend to the starting job, and he's led the Pats on an unprecedented run of success ever since. Brady was never a star at Michigan, so it makes sense that he fell in the draft, but it still makes one wonder what all the pro scouts were missing.

Brady is 41 now and will turn 42 before the 2019 season starts, but he's still chugging along. He hasn't shown any signs of dropping off yet, and just won yet another Super Bowl this past season.

He's again raised some eyebrows for skipping the teams OTA practices, but it clearly didn't effect him last year.
