When the day comes in which wide receiver Danny Amendola decides to retire from football, he is very much likely going to be remembered as a New England Patriot more than anything else. That’s why the news of his looming departure from New England hit Patriots fan hard. And just like the Pats’ faithful, New England quarterback Tom Brady is also feeling emotional and sentimental as of the moment.

In an Instagram post, Brady offered a terse yet heartfelt and meaningful reaction to Amendola’s decision to take his talents to South Beach. Brady perfectly encapsulated the good times he has had with Amendola in Foxborough with that message along with a photo of Amendola celebrating on the field perhaps after one of New England’s Super Bowl wins.

Amendola decided to pack his bags for Miami for better pay. He had agreed to a series of pay cuts over the past few years with New England, even playing on a one-year $1.7 million contract last season after agreeing to a restructured deal that cleared some space on the Patriots’ cap space. Per Spotrac, Amendola is set to earn $12 million over the next two seasons with the Dolphins – a good deal for a 32-year-old wideout.

Amendola will continue to have a significant role in Miami. The Dolphins recently parted ways with Jarvis Landry in a trade with the Cleveland Browns, leaving a big hole on Miami’s receiving corps. Amendola is going to be a big part of covering that void for the Dolphins.

Danny Amendola

In five seasons with the Patriots, Danny Amendola racked up 2,383 receiving yards and 12 touchdown receptions with a 10.4 yards-per-reception average. He had 659 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 15 games for the Pats last season.

Tom Brady and Amendola will still see each other at least twice during the regular season as they are still in the same division.
