The New England Patriots landed wide receiver Mohamed Sanu in a trade with the Atlanta Falcons earlier this week, and Tom Brady is excited about it.

“I think it’s his willingness to embrace this opportunity,” Brady said, per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. “He brings a lot of juice, so it’s good to have. It’s good to see someone that’s competitive. If you watch him play, he plays with an attitude. He’s got a little chip on his shoulder, too, so I think we can relate to each other. And he can relate to a guy like Julian [Edelman], because he was often overlooked in his career, and I think he plays that way.”

The acquisition of Sanu comes at a great time, as the Patriots just placed fellow wide out Josh Gordon on the injured reserve list and seem likely to waive him in the coming weeks.

New England's receiving corps has been disappointing this season, whether it was Antonio Brown's off-the-field issues, Gordon's disappointing run or rookie N'Keal Harry missing the first seven games with an ankle injury.

In seven contests with the Falcons, Sanu logged 33 catches for 313 yards and a touchdown.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Rutgers, was originally selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the third round (83rd pick overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.

He spent his first four seasons with the Bengals before joining the Falcons in 2016.

Sanu has been a consistently productive receiver throughout his career, and in 2018, he had his best season to date, hauling in 66 receptions for 838 yards and four scores.
