While the New England Patriots and the team's fan base have become quite familiar with defensive back Devin McCourty over the years, it was actually his twin brother who came up big for the heralded franchise on Sunday evening in Atlanta. With the Los Angeles Rams threatening late in the third quarter, Patriots defensive back Jason McCourty made quite the play on wide receiver Brandin Cooks.

If not for McCourty, the Rams would currently hold a 7-3 lead over the Patriots. Instead, the game is knotted at three with the fourth quarter now underway at Super Bowl LIII.

Relegated to playing for both the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns prior to arriving in New England ahead of this season, McCourty is currently in the midst of his first ever postseason. With his brother Devin already a multi-time Super Bowl champion, Jason is certainly doing his part to add his first to the trophy case.

Over the course of the 2018-19 regular season, his first as a member of the heralded Patriots, the 31-year-old defender compiled 54 total tackles, one forced fumble, one interception and 10 pass defenses across 16 appearances. McCourty, who was originally selected by the aforementioned Titans in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL Draft out of Rutgers, spent just one season in Cleveland — in 2017-18 — after his lengthy stint in Tennessee. For his NFL career as a whole, the veteran defensive back has accumulated 640 total tackles and 17 interceptions over the course of 138 regular season games.

The Patriots are seeking a second title in the last three seasons.
