Anthony Davis' time with the New Orleans Pelicans is coming to an end, as the superstar will almost surely be dealt by the Pelicans this summer after asking for a trade earlier this month.

However, Davis has no hard feelings for the city and will always hold New Orleans near and dear to his heart:

“I will always have love for the city of New Orleans,” said Davis, according to Sean Deveney of The Sporting News. “When that time comes I am going to definitely have a heartwarming message for them and put it out on Instagram like everybody else does.”

Well, that should certainly set Pelicans fans' minds at ease!

Not really, but whatever.

Davis, who played his collegiate basketball at the University of Kentucky, was originally selected by New Orleans with the first overall pick of the 2012 NBA Draft when the franchise was still the Hornets.

Since then, Davis has led the Pelicans to just two postseason appearances and one playoff series win, defeating the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round last year.

Otherwise, Davis' six-and-a-half year run in the Big Easy has been full of disappointment, as the Pelicans have failed to win 50 games in any one season throughout the 25-year-old's tenure.

Still, the big man is one of the best players in the league, as evidenced by the fact that he is averaging 28.1 points, 12.9 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 2.5 blocks and 1.6 steals per game this season. However, the Pelicans are just 26-33 at the All-Star break.

Davis has now made six straight All-Star appearances.
