Jose Alvarado won the hearts of New Orleans Pelicans fans this season. Now with the team locking up a spot in the NBA playoffs, his name echoed the streets surrounding the Smoothie King Center after their Play-In tournament win over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night.

The man himself spoke out after the Pelicans' 113-103 win became official.

“I hear it. It's amazing. Hearing that is just like, man, where I come from and how my story and life went. Hearing them just cheer cause I'm doing good. Or just in general. Man, the city is amazing. … NOLA thanks for embracing a kid from Brooklyn. I'm going to give all I got to this city,” said the Pelicans guard.

Alvarado didn't have a monster game based on the box score. He finished with a respectable 12 points and three triples in 22 minutes of action off the bench. But his impact and effort was seen throughout his time on the court.

Jose Alvarado made timely passes and effort plays to help stave off the Spurs' final run towards the end of the game. While he isn't the team's star, he's a fan favorite for his infectious attitude and style of play all the same.
