The Penn State football team started the season off 6-0 and sat comfortably inside the top-10 for the first half of the season. The Nittany Lions seemed to have a lot of good weapons on offense, and they have one of the best defenses in the country. It seemed like it could be the year that Penn State could get over the hump in the Big Ten, but their game against Ohio State football last weekend may have proved otherwise.

Penn State football last beat Ohio State in 2016, and the Nittany Lions went on to win the Big Ten that season. Nittany Lions fans were hoping for a similar story this season, but things didn't go as planned in Columbus, from the result of the game to injury trouble.

Ohio State came into the game as slight favorites, and both teams were absolutely smothering on defense all day long. However, the Buckeyes were able to find a little bit more success in the passing game because of Marvin Harrison Jr., and that led to a 20-12 victory. It was a disappointing loss for Penn State, and they also lost star edge rusher Chop Robinson along the way.

Chop Robinson is one of the best defensive players in the entire country, and he could end up being a first-round draft pick in the spring. He is a crucial part of the Penn State defense, and he was carted off the field because of injury in the loss to the Buckeyes. Details on the injury are still vague, but James Franklin expects Robinson to return to the field for the Nittany Lions soon.

“As from what I understand and from what I see, and from what I know, I don’t see this being a long-term issue,” James Franklin said, according to an article from Basic Blues Nation. “But you never know when it comes to medical. But hopefully, we’ll be getting Chop back here soon. As you guys know, I’m pretty open when it’s a season-ending injury. I don’t see that.”

That's good news for Robinson and Penn State, and hopefully he can return sooner rather than later as Penn State's most important remaining game is in less than two weeks. After the loss, the Nittany Lions now need to beat Michigan when the Wolverines come to town in a couple of weeks, and then they also need Michigan to take down Ohio State. The Nittany Lions' chances against Michigan will certainly be higher if Robinson is playing.
