It was an up-and-down performance by Bubba Watson at the PGA Championship, as the world no. 73 finished tied for 30th at three shots over par. While the tournament didn't end the way Watson, who was inside the top-five golfers after two days of play, hoped, it was still a positive performance for the two-time major champion.

Unfortunately, Watson will have to wait to build on any momentum gained from his performance at Southern Hills. The 43-year-old took to social media to congratulate PGA Championship winner Justin Thomas, then made a shocking announcement ahead of the Charles Schwab Challenge, as reported by USA Today.

Three days later, he posted a message of congratulations to Justin Thomas, who outlasted Will Zalatoris on Sunday at Southern Hills Country Club to capture his second Wanamaker Trophy.

In that same message, Watson revealed that he’s going to miss some time.

After sending congratulations Thomas' way, Bubba Watson announced that he was pulling out of the Charles Schwab Challenge due to a torn meniscus in his knee. He is expected to miss four-to-six weeks due to the knee injury, a disappointing announcement following the PGA Championship.

Watson surged up the leaderboard at Southern Hills after sinking a career-high nine birdies to tie the PGA Championship's 18-hole scoring record with a mark of 63.

Unfortunately, Watson won't get a chance to build off of that incredible round at the Charles Schwab Challenge and is also likely to miss the U.S. Open, scheduled for June 16-19.

There is, however, hope that Watson can return for The Open Championship in St. Andrews in July.
