The PGL Stockholm Major marks the end of a two-year long competitive drought for CS:GO. The first official Major sponsored by Valve since the StarLadder Major Berlin 2019 will see 24 teams compete for a part of the $2 million prize pool and the glory of being called the best CS:GO team in the world.
The competition starts with the Challengers Stage on October 26th. 16 teams will compete in the Challengers Stage, with only eight teams advancing to the Legends Stage, which starts on October 30th. There, eight teams who have already gained the Legend status will be waiting for them. At the end of the Legends Stage, only eight teams in total will qualify for the playoffs.
The Challenger and Legend Stages will use the Swiss format. The elimination and qualifier matches will be played in best-of-threes, while the rest will be played in best-of-ones.
The Champions Stage will be held in front of a live audience in Avicii Arena, Stockholm. The playoffs begin on November 4th, and end with the grand finals on November 7th. The playoffs brackets will be in a single-elimination format, with each match being a best-of-three.
PGL Stockholm Major Challengers Stage
The Challengers Stage of the PGL Major 2021 will start on October 26th. This stage sees 16 teams vie for the chance to move on to the Legends stage, where eight legendary CS:GO teams await them.
The 16 Challenger teams are: Heroic, FaZe Clan, Virtus.pro, Copenhagen Flames, BIG, Movistar Riders, Team Spirit, ENCE, MOUZ, TYLOO, Renegades, Entropiq, Astralis, paiN Gaming, Sharks Esports, and Godsent.

PGL Stockholm Major Legends Stage
While the Challengers are still fighting over a chance to get into the Legends Stage, eight prolific CS:GO teams have already reached Legend status and are waiting for them.
These eight teams are: Ninjas in Pyjamas, FURIA Esports, Natus Vincere, Team Vitality, Team Liquid, Gambit Esports, G2 Esports, and Evil Geniuses.
Joining the reigning Legends from the Challengers Stage are the teams: Copenhagen Flames, FaZe Clan, Entropiq, Virtus.pro, Ence, Heroic, MOUZ, and finally, Astralis.
The Legends stage starts on October 30th, and will conclude on November 2nd. Only eight teams from the Legends stage will advance to the playoffs, also known as the Champions Stage.

The Champions Stage will start on November 4th and finish on November 7th with the Grand Finals. The Avicii Arena in Stockholm, Sweden will host the Champions stage, admitting a large crowd of live viewers.
Only the top eight teams from the Legends Stage will advance to the Champions stage. These teams are: Natus Vincere, Team Vitality, Gambit Esports, FURIA Esports, G2 Esports, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Herois, and Virtus.pro.
