The Philadelphia Phillies added another dimension to their lineup on Friday as they signed outfielder Nick Castellanos to a five-year, $100 million deal.

This move sure has pleased Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper. He has taken notice of the moves that the likes of the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets have made in free agency. He noted earlier in the week that the Phillies “need to get that much better as well.”

Now with both Castellanos and Kyle Schwarber in the fold, Harper is ecstatic at the potential of the Phillies' lineup this season.

“It's incredible,” Harper said on Saturday. “I would never have thought that would have happened. What a lineup we're about to have. It's a special thing to have guys at the top of our lineup, in the middle of our lineup. Pretty well-rounded.

“Just the length of our lineup is very impressive. Look good on paper but you still have to go out there and give it your best effort.”

The Phillies are adding a well-rounded hitter in Castellanos, who is set to bolster their lineup in a notable way. Last season, the Phillies ranked at 17th in all of baseball with a .237 batting average against right-handed pitchers. Castellanos shined in such matchups in what turned out to be his final campaign with the Cincinnati Reds, as he hit .310 against righties to go along with 24 home runs and 72 RBI recorded.

Castellanos is slated to take hold of the left field position for the Phillies, and it remains to be seen on just where manager Joe Girardi will slot him in the batting order.
