Now that baseball is officially back, player movement will be in full swing. One of the biggest prizes on the free agent market is that of former Chicago Cubs slugger, Kris Bryant. Well, Philadelphia Phillies All-Star Bryce Harper is reportedly doing some campaigning to bring Bryant to Philly, according to MLB Network's Jon Heyman.

Heyman tweeted “NL MVP Bryce Harper is stumping for good friend/Vegas neighbor Kris Bryant in Philly. Harper pull helped keep Realmuto. Phils have needs but also options (Schwarber, Conforto, Castellanos, etc) KB does fit, either for 3B and/or OF. He, too, has options: Sea, Colo, SD, NYM, more.”

Harper definitely has some pull, both figuratively and literally. He is coming off one of the best seasons of his career, winning his second National League MVP Award. Harper his .309 with 35 home runs, 101 runs scored and 84 runs batted in. He also led the league with a whopping 1.029 OPS. He previously won the NL MVP in 2015 also.

Whereas, Bryant is coming off a resurgent year in 2021. He missed the majority of the 2020 season and struggled to hit while he was on the field. But last year, between time in Chicago and San Francisco, Bryant hit 25 home runs while playing in 144 games.

The Phillies could use help both at the hot corner and in the outfield. Bryant would make a nice addition to the Phillies lineup and could take advantage of the dimensions at Citizens Bank Park. But it's very possible that even if the Phillies land Bryant, their lack of depth in the pitching rotation will sink this team.
