Philadelphia Phillies star outfielder Bryce Harper has been in the midst of an awe-inspiring stretch reminiscent of his 2021 MVP campaign. Even more impressive is the fact that Harper has been playing for much of the 2022 MLB season with a partially torn UCL in his elbow, which has prevented him from throwing but clearly hasn't limited him at the plate. Amid Harper's torrid stretch, Phillies general manager Dave Dombrowski was asked about the star slugger's ability as a player and he responded with a surprising take, per MLB.com's Mike Lupica.

“Also, in some ways, with all the talent he possesses, and, all the accolades he has received,” Dombrowski continued, “and the fact that he’s a Hall of Fame talent, in many ways he is underrated.”

Dombrowski surprisingly said that Harper is “underrated in many ways.” While it's a bit unclear exactly how the Phillies star is underrated, in some ways, the argument makes sense.

Harper made his MLB debut at just 19 years old after he was one of the most hyped-up prospects in recent memory, making the cover of sports magazines as a high schooler.

He has proceeded to make six All-Star teams while bringing home two MVP trophies in 10 years in the MLB. What Dombrowski might be getting at here is the fact that Harper has been so good for so long that we have taken him for granted, underrating him in certain ways.

The Phillies star just might be building a Hall of Fame case before our very eyes. Maybe it's not appreciated enough.
