The Philadelphia Phillies are two games into their second series of the season. Despite multiple power-hitting pick-ups in the offseason, there hasn't been much offense for the Phils at all. Eight games in, Philadelphia sits below .500 at 3-5. While the Phillies still have plenty of baseball left to play, 154 games to be exact, the slow start is cause for concern.

Phillies manager Joe Girardi has optimism, despite the rough start.

“I really believe we're going to hit,” he said, all quotes courtesy of The Athletic. “It's just…there are other teams going through it. And we're going through it right now.”

Girardi is right. Assuming “it” is referring to offensive slumps, it happens in the MLB all the time. Sometimes slumps occur for just one guy, or sometimes it happens to an entire team. Regardless, the entire Phillies roster seems to be “going through it.”

Meanwhile, Kyle Schwarber, one of two power-hitters signed to the Phillies this offseason, is looking at the season in its entirety.

“What are we at? Game 8? So, Game 8. I’m glad we can point out some weaknesses and start working on it. It is what it is,” Schwarber said, per The Athletic. “I don’t think you’re going to look at any person in this clubhouse and see anyone panicking.”

Schwarber hasn't looked the same since his lead-off Opening Day homer to kick off his career in Philadelphia. The electric 9-5 win against the Oakland Athletics was not a good precursor to the Phils' next handful of games. However, it is comforting for Philadelphians to hear that the Phillies clubhouse hasn't hit the panic button just yet.
