According to the NBA's official injury report, Blake Griffin will miss Monday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers due to rest purposes.

The Pistons will miss Griffin's production, especially considering two of his best games of the year have come against the Sixers. He was the catalyst in a one-point victory over Philly in October, scoring 50 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Additionally, he put up 38 points against Philly in a losing effort in early November.

This is the first game Griffin will miss this season, so it's hard to criticize him for taking the night off. The Detroit Pistons' newest star is having a career year and has led Detroit to a 13-11 record. Unfortunately, the Pistons are on a four-game losing streak. Griffin played 38 minutes in each of the last two games, including in Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Pelicans in which he scored 35 points.

Griffin is taking on the brunt of the scoring load for Detroit, and they could struggle without him against a Sixers team that is rolling right now. Philadelphia has won nine of its last 12 since Jimmy Butler joined the lineup, with the most recent victory coming against the Pistons. Joel Embiid sat out that game for rest, much like Griffin will be doing on Monday.

This could loom large for the Pistons, who are looking to avoid their second five-game losing streak this year. The Pistons have been very streaky so far this season, and they'll try to buck that trend without their best player in Blake Griffin.
