After signing veteran wide receiver Brandon LaFell on Monday, the Oakland Raiders have shifted their attention to another free agent wideout in the form of Brice Butler.

According to Vic Tarfur of The Athletic, the Raiders have worked out Butler on the same day they inked LaFell, a clear sign that the team is still looking to shore up their downfield crew with only a week left before Oakland makes its 2018 NFL season debut.

While the signing of LaFell may also be an indication that the Raiders will ultimately decide against signing Brice Butler, Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas-Review Journal reports that Oakland is still in search of another body, particularly someone with speed, to add to the team’s receiving corps.

Brice Butler was signed by the Arizona Cardinals to a two-year deal worth $2.6 million back in April, but was recently released by the Cards, as he was not able to impress enough to displace any of the likes of Christian Kirk, Chad Williams, and J.J. Nelson on the depth chart behind starter and future Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald.

Before his short-lived stint in Arizona, Butler played 13 games for the Dallas Cowboys in 2017 in which he recorded 317 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 15 receptions. He also spent his first two seasons in the NFL with the Raiders, as he recorded 30 catches for 383 yards and two touchdowns in 25 games.

The Raiders parted ways with troubled wide receiver Martavis Bryant last Saturday, paving the way for the addition of LaFell, and should they sign Butler, the two receivers will have a week to learn the playbook before next Monday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams at home.
