After restocking their backfield following the retirement of Marshawn Lynch, the Oakland Raiders will not be getting any production from Isaiah Crowell in 2019.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Crowell, who figured to be one of Oakland's lead backs, tore his Achilles during a workout on Tuesday with the team.

Crowell has been an effective runner throughout his career, averaging 4.3 yards per carry. He rushed for 685 yards and six touchdowns in his lone season with the New York Jets last year before signing a one-year deal with Oakland this offseason.

The Raiders used one of their three first-round picks on former Alabama star running back Josh Jacobs. They will likely need to add another player or two for depth now that Crowell is out, but Jacobs could play an even bigger role than they initially expected in his rookie season.

Jacobs and Crowell may have been on track to share work, but the rookie now looks like the clear No. 1 in Oakland heading into the season. Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington are also on hand to share the workload. Richard started several games for Oakland last season.

The team may be asked if Lynch is a candidate to come back to the roster. He spent the last two seasons in Oakland and word in April was that he is not planning to play in 2019, although he’s reversed course in the past for a chance to play for his hometown team.
