Over the past couple of seasons, Nathan Peterman has become a spectacle … but not in a good way. The Oakland Raiders signed Peterman this offseason and Jon Gruden has actually taken a liking to him.

While speaking about the team, Jon Gruden said Nathan Peterman is “growing” on him. Peterman is expected to compete for the backup quarterback job behind Derek Carr.

Before arriving in Oakland, Peterman spent the past two seasons with the Buffalo Bills. In those two seasons, Peterman began both seasons as the starter but didn't end either season as the starter.

As mentioned, everyone has made jokes about his turnover problems and his questionable decision-making while he was with Buffalo. After all, he has thrown 12 interceptions in just four starts (eight total games) along with two fumbles.

The Raiders added Antonio Brown, Tyrell Williams, Hunter Renfrow, and Josh Jacobs in the offense. Therefore, there is a ton of pressure for Carr to step up at the quarterback position.

As for Peterman, he is fighting to win the backup spot behind Carr, with Mike Glennon being the other contestant. Having Gruden say he's a fan helps Peterman's case, but there's still work to do.

Eliminating the abysmal turnovers and learning the offense will help him win the job. The good thing for him is he will likely get a ton of reps in the preseason and in training camp to improve his game.

Without a doubt, the Raiders are going to be must-watch television thanks to the dynamic between Peterman and Gruden alongside characters like Brown, Vontaze Burfict, and Richie Incognito on “Hard Knocks.”
