The Las Vegas Raiders have selected cornerback Damon Arnette with the 19th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Arnette is the second Ohio State cornerback drafted this year, joining No. 3 overall pick Jeff Okudah.

Annette considered leaving school to enter the 2019 NFL Draft, however, he decided to stay for one more season. After having a phenomenal senior season at Ohio State, his draft stock significantly increased. This past season, Arnette racked up 35 tackles, one interception, eight pass breakups, and a forced fumble.

Several NFL analyst have compared Arnette skill set to Dallas Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis.  Here's what Lance Zuerlein of NFL Network said in Arnette's NFL draft and combine profile

“Inside/outside cornerback with NFL size and strength but a lack of fluidity and burst that might make him best-suited as a zone corner,” Zierlein said. “Arnette will be at a disadvantage against vertical jackrabbits and will struggle to stay connected to NFL routes in man.

The Raiders have done an outstanding job of revamping their defense this offseason. They've added linebackers Cory Littleton and Nick Kwiatoski and safeties Darmarious Randall and Jeff Heath in free agency. Adding Arnette to the defense will certainly make the Raiders have one of the top defenses in the AFC West.

In the 2017 NFL Draft, the Raiders selected Ohio State corner Gareon Conley in the first round. However, in the past two seasons, he hasn't lived up to his expectations. Nevertheless, the Raiders will certainly hope Arnette's career with the team will be better than Conley's.
