Veteran pass rusher Junior Galette is still on the free-agent market after the Washington Redskins decided to pull their contract offer from him. Galette’s search for a new team will take him to Oakland, where he’s set to visit the Raiders on Friday, ESPN’s John Keim reports.

Keim also notes that there are a couple other teams also interested in the veteran linebacker. The Cleveland Browns were previously linked with him shortly after he parted ways with Washington, although nothing has come of that interest yet.

Galette, 30, finally returned to the field last season after missing two years due to back-to-back torn Achilles injuries. He had three sacks, 20 tackles, and a forced fumble in 16 appearances as part of the Redskins’ edge rushing rotation last year.

Prior to those devastating injury setbacks, Galette was a highly productive pass rusher with the New Orleans Saints. He posted back-to-back double-digit sack seasons in 2013 and 2014. It remains to be seen whether he can ever get back to that type of level, especially since he’s now in his 30s.

However, he did play well in his role as a reserve with the Redskins last season, which is likely why he’s still receiving interest from teams around the league.

The Raiders could certainly use someone with Galette’s skill set to bolster their pass rush, which could do with some significant upgrade this offseason. Apart from Khalil Mack (10.5 sacks) and Bruce Irvin (8.0 sacks), Oakland didn’t receive much production in terms of their pass rush. They finished a disappointing 24th in sacks with 31.0.
