With Jon Gruden at the helm of the Oakland Raiders for a second stint as head coach, the team is making some sweeping changes in order to right the ship after a disappointing 6-10 season. Among the potential changes Gruden could make during this NFL offseason is parting ways with Oakland native and fan favorite, Marshawn Lynch.

Although nothing is set in stone nor is Gruden seemingly crazy about the idea of releasing the five-time Pro Bowler, the fact of the matter is it is a very realistic possibility. Gruden isn't messing around in his return to Oakland as he has a vision for what he wants to see on the football and whether Lynch fits remains to be seen. If the Raiders do indeed release Lynch, they'll have to do it very soon, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

That’s why it won’t be a surprise if the Raiders decide within the next three weeks to move on from Marshawn. His contract has a $1 million roster bonus that comes due on March 18.

Not cutting him before March 18 won’t mean that Lynch will definitely be on the Week One roster. The Raiders may decide that they’re willing to pay Lynch the $1 million in order to continue the evaluation.

In the coming weeks, Lynch will learn his fate as Gruden and company decide which direction they want to go in ahead of the 2018 campaign. If the team does part ways with the one-time Super Bowl champion, Oakland will have some options in NFL free agency to replace him with Le'Veon Bell and Carlos Hyde potentially in the team's crosshairs.

At this point, it seems as though Gruden just wants Lynch to give it his all in what would be his second season with the Raiders. The 54-year-old head coach is looking for all or nothing from Lynch and if he isn't willing to do that, he'll be shown the door before March 18. With some viable options potentially on the open market, the team may very well move on from Lynch if they feel he's not worth the hassle.

Lynch isn't the only veteran on the team that is on shaky ground due to Gruden's arrival. The Raiders seem willing to make a lot of changes at many different positions on both sides of the football with a few other veterans potentially looking for jobs like Michael Crabtree, Bruce Irvin, and Sean Smith.

Needless to say, it'll be a new-look Raiders team in 2018 with Gruden hoping to get this team back on track as a legitimate title contender in the AFC.
