The Las Vegas Raiders are likely going to be in the market for a new head coach this offseason after the resignation of former coach Jon Gruden. Per a recent ESPN report by Dan Graziano, the Raiders could look to Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh to fill their vacancy. There could also be some interest in Las Vegas by Harbaugh.

“If Harbaugh decides to give the NFL a try again, keep an eye on the Raiders,” ESPN's Dan Graziano said on Wednesday. “If anyone’s going to make an outside-the-box hire that isn’t on the NFL’s list of recommended candidates, it’s this guy. The Davis and Harbaugh families have a friendship that dates back a ways.”

While it's just a rumor at the moment, the fact that current Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, who has been linked to other NFL teams before, seems to have genuine interest in the Raiders is intriguing.

Of course, Harbaugh has little reason to leave Michigan at the moment, especially after just signing a contract extension to remain with the Wolverines at the beginning of the year. Not only that, but Michigan capped off a 12-1 season and secured a spot in the Capital One Bowl against Georgia.

Still, Harbaugh could be driven to prove that he can lead a team to the promised land at the highest level. After all the Michigan boss led the San Francisco 49ers to a 44-19-1 record in four seasons as the head coach, making it to a Super Bowl and an NFC Championship game.

If Harbaugh's drive to prove it in the NFL is great enough, ESPN's Dan Graziano feels that his potential return could be with the Raiders. That would be a good get for Las Vegas, who has been better than expected this season. Graziano also mentions the connection between the Davis family, who owns the Raiders, and the Harbaugh families.

Michigan fans shouldn't be worried, though as Graziano said, if Jim Harbaugh is interested in a return to the NFL, keep an eye on the Raiders.
