The Los Angeles Rams suffered a painful defeat at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks. Adding insult to injury is the injury Brandin Cooks endured during the game.

LA Rams' Stu Jackson reported that the 26-year-old wide receiver was placed on concussion protocol to protect the player. He will be inspected by team doctors over the following days to check on his condition.

He suffered a horrible fall after making an impressive one-handed catch. He wasn't able to stand up immediately after making the catch, immediately turning the cheers on the Rams sideline to worried silence.

Fortunately, head coach Sean McVay confirmed that his wideout is looking better than what was previously feared.

“He was asymptomatic today and that was a positive thing for us,” McVay said.

However, he wasn't the only one who was injured after the game.

OLB Clay Matthews will most likely miss significant game time due to a broken jaw. He will have it surgically repaired and there's no set timetable for his return.

He felt hurt for his linebacker due to his influence in the game:

“He's a tough guy, man, but it was a physical game,” McVay said. “It was something that you just hate for him because of how productive he's been for us and what he's meant to our team and all the things that he's done. That's going to be a big loss. Guys are going to have to step up in his absence.”

Cooks has been a great option for Jared Goff and the Rams this season, notching 325 receiving yards and a touchdown on 20 receptions. He may see a drop in his productivity if he's deemed unfit to play.

However, McVay and the Rams offense will pray that he's available for their Week 6 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.
