ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Los Angeles Rams are signing former Chicago Bears pass rusher Leonard Floyd to a one-year deal worth $10 million that can go up to $13 million with incentives.

The Rams have been losing some big names in free agency. That continued on Wednesday when Dante Fowler elected to sign with the Atlanta Falcons instead of returning to Los Angeles. However, there is some good news coming their way with the Floyd signing.

That's a pretty hefty chunk of change. However, Floyd is a very interesting player.

In his rookie year of 2016, Floyd racked up seven sacks. His best in the three seasons since then is just 4.5 though.

2019 was particularly disappointing. He recorded just 40 tackles (three for loss) and three sacks. The tackles for loss and sacks were career-lows.

It was also his first year without a fumble recovery, a forced fumble, or an interception. And, it was the only year where he did not score a defensive touchdown or record a safety.

Still, Floyd is just 27 and has shown plenty of flashes of brilliance.

It also helps that the Rams got the absolute most out of Fowler for a season, after he had a few rocky years before going to Los Angeles.

Could they be trying to recapture that magic with Floyd? If that is indeed the plan, Los Angeles might want to have a backup plan. You can't keep relying on players to breakthrough. At some point, it's going to backfire.

It is still early in the offseason though. The Rams still have plenty of time left to stock up in free agency and the NFL Draft. It's safe to assume they aren't done making moves just yet.

Floyd is definitely a nice start though.
