At some point, the controversy surrounding the non-call on pass interference between the Los Angeles Rams and the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Championship Game will pass, but, for now, it remains a hot topic of discussion.

You know the story by now.

Late in the fourth quarter of the game with the scored tied at 20, the Saints had a third down in the red zone when Drew Brees lofted a pass to Tommylee Lewis. Long before the football got to Lewis, Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman leveled the receiver with a hit that was clearly a.) pass interference, and b.) helmet-to-helmet.

Neither penalty was called, and, as a result, New Orleans had to settle for a field goal, making the score 23-20. Los Angeles then came back down the field and answered with a field goal of its own to send the game into overtime, and the Rams then proceeded to win in the extra session on a 57-yard boot by Greg Zuerlein, sending them to the Super Bowl.

On Friday, Robey-Coleman was fined $26,739 for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Lewis, and now, Robey-Coleman hopes that everyone can simply move on.

“It’s the league’s call, the ref’s call,” Robey-Coleman said, via Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. “I have nothing to do with that play. I made a football play. The ref made his call, and there’s nothing else I could do about it. That’s their call.”

Try telling that to the Saints players and all of the fans in Louisiana who are still sick to their stomach.
