The Los Angeles Rams reportedly had another receiver not named Odell Beckham Jr. in mind when trying to fill the void after DeSean Jackson left town. His name will probably come as a surprise, but maybe it shouldn't.

Prior to the Rams shocking the NFL world and signing Odell Beckham Jr Thursday, they put in a claim for Josh Reynolds. As reported by NFL Network's Steve Wyche, it was Reynolds that they turned to first.

However, Josh Reynolds was claimed off waivers by Detroit. The Lions, of course, were higher up the waiver order than the Los Angeles was.

That prompted Rams general manager Les Snead to turn his attention to Odell Beckham Jr. It was reported that Beckham Jr. was between the Rams, Packers, Chiefs and Saints.

Reportedly the Packers had offered a veteran minimum to Beckham Jr. That would have paid him just over a half million dollars for the rest of the season. Whereas, with the Rams, Beckham Jr. could make up to $4.5 million.

Then there's the whole living in Los Angeles as opposed to Wisconsin thing. So, it's no wonder he made the decision he did.

But it also shouldn't surprise anyone that the Rams placed a claim on Reynolds. He played the first four years of his career with the Rams until last season when he joined the Titans. Reynolds obviously knows head coach Sean McVay's system and the playbook. So, it would have been an easy transition to slide him back into the fold.

Instead, they landed Beckham Jr. Only time will tell how that plays out but there is no denying, the talent level Los Angeles has accrued this season will make them a tough out.
