We're set for another betting prediction and pick for MLB Friday action as we head to the American League for this next three-game series between contenders. The Rangers Texas Rangers (24-27) will take on the Minnesota Twins (26-23) as both teams try to regroup after bad losing skids. Check out our MLB odds series for our Rangers-Twins prediction and pick.

The Texas Rangers are currently second in the NL West and trail the leading Mariners by three games. They're looking to repeat as World Series Champions, but they've stumbled over the last two weeks posting just a 3-9 record over their last 12 games. They're hoping to break this current four-game losing streak following a sweep from Philadelphia. Jose Urena (1-3) will be their starter.

The Minnesota Twins are third in the AL Central and 6.5 games back of the leading Cleveland Guardians. Despite their winning record, it's clearly going to be a tough divisional race and they'll need to avoid losing streaks like the recent seven-game skid they broke with back-to-back wins. The Twins look for their third-straight win as Bailey Ober (4-2) takes the mound for them.

Why The Rangers Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Rangers will have an improbable task of repeating as World Series Champions and their main obstacle all season will be the Seattle Mariners within their division. Still, the Rangers boast the experience and could see improvements to their bullpen throughout the trade market. Injuries have been a constant worry for their pitching staff but as we saw last year, this team is more than capable of getting over some early-season hurdles. Look for the Rangers to really step on the gas once we draw near the All-Star break.

Jose Urena (RHP) will make his fourth start of the season while pitching from his closing spot. He has yet to notch a save this season, but he did grab his first win as a starter in his last appearance against the Angels. Over his last few starts, he's been able to strand runners with a 0.83 WHIP and while he's not typically a strikeout pitcher, he's very effective at forcing ground balls and getting himself out of jams. He's still easing into a starting spot with all the injuries to their rotation, so expect him to have his lapses just as any pitcher would.

Why The Twins Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Minnesota Twins didn't do themselves any favors by dropping seven-straight games this month and it's clear their road to the postseason will be treacherous with the Guardians playing atop their game. Still, their All-Star Carlos Correa is poised for another big season, but they've seen the emergence of Catcher Ryan Jeffers as their biggest bat this season. Both he and Will Castro have been crushing the ball as of late and could see a big series at home if they continue their hot hitting.

Bailey Ober (RHP) will be the Twins' likely starter in this one and he's been very solid at home, winning his only start and posting 20 strikeouts throughout his multiple appearances in relief. He's gone 3-2 in his last five starts while posting 32 strikeouts during that time. Once he locks into the zone, he can stack strikeouts in a hurry and make it tough for opposing teams to dig back. Expect him to pitch deep into this game if he can get off to a strong start.

Final Rangers-Twins Prediction & Pick

Both teams are coming into this series wanting to play better than they have been during the month of May and their struggles have often mirrored each other throughout the last couple of weeks. The Rangers are still looking for answers to all the injuries to their bullpen and they're seriously missing the consistent pitching from their ace starters. The Twins have been much better from the mound, but they recently struggled in their last few road series and are still shaking cobwebs off themselves.

For our prediction, we'll have to roll with the Minnesota Twins to pick up this win at home. They're right at 11-11 on their home field and Bailey Ober seems like the more confident pitcher at the moment. Still, I think the Twins pick up a close win in what should be a low-scoring game.
