DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry have been good friends after playing together for years on the Toronto Raptors, but things certainly didn't start that way.

It's not a secret that DeRozan's first impression of Lowry wasn't the best, and he opened up about it once again in his recent interview with Taylor Rooks on Bleacher Report. Throughout the talk, there's one word that keeps going up to describe Lowry who is now on the Miami Heat: “asshole.”

“I do have a certain side to me that I just never wanna bring out. And Kyle was an asshole to where I knew if I was around him long enough, he would bring that other side out. So I just stayed away from him, cause I didn't know him. I didn't know him personally to understand him,” DeRozan said on playing with Lowry for the first time with the Raptors.

The Raptors drafted DeMar DeRozan in 2009 with the ninth overall pick of the draft. Three years later, they traded for Kyle Lowry to pair the two up in their backcourt. While things clearly didn't start great between the two–coupled with the team's struggles during their first year together–it didn't really take long for them to develop that on- and off-court chemistry that would propel them to become consistent playoff contenders.

Although they didn't have much success together championship-wise, being stopped by LeBron James' teams multiple times, they have played a big role in making NBA basketball relevant again in Canada. Now, their friendship transcends beyond the basketball court even though they are no longer with the Raptors and have went their separate ways.

DeRozan is thriving with the Chicago Bulls, while Lowry plays for the Heat (though he remains absent due to personal reasons).
