The Toronto Raptors may have had a slow start to the 2020-21 season but Fred VanVleet's record-breaking performance against the Orlando Magic on Tuesday night could be a sign that they have finally found the light at the end of the tunnel. For the former undrafted guard, the win goes way beyond his individual tally and claimed that he only wanted to do it for his teammates who have always supported him, via Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports.

Both the Raptors and the Magic found themselves in a tightly-contested tilt but the Canadian-based squad eventually managed to gain separation in the third quarter. Head coach Nick Nurse urged his men to step on the pedal until the final buzzer as they snagged a 123-108 blowout victory.

The win was highlighted by VanVleet who notched a total of 54 points which serves as the new franchise record for most points scored in a game. It was also the new mark for the most points scored in a game by an undrafted player in league history.

Raptors swingman Norman Powell also had a good outing with 23 points while Kyle Lowry tallied a triple-double output of 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. The Magic produced a collaborative effort as six players scored in double-digits. However, it still wasn't enough to grab the victory as the Raptors further improved to 9-12 for the ninth spot in the Eastern Conference.

After struggling to find their footing in the early stages of the season, the Raptors' win on Tuesday night could serve as the eventual turning point of their campaign. Riding the momentum of a two-game winning streak, Fred VanVleet will aim to have another huge performance when his squad visits a dominant Brooklyn Nets side on Feb. 5.
