The Miami Heat traveled to Toronto to square off with the Raptors Sunday night. It was the first time back for former Raptors legend Kyle Lowry as an opponent. It was an extremely important game for both teams, with the Heat pulling out a close victory, 114-109. After the game, Lowry shared a moment with Raptors rising star Scottie Barnes. Later, Lowry detailed what he said to the Toronto rookie.

“He's a special talent. He's gonna be a cornerstone of the franchise. He fits in perfectly – how hard he plays, how passionate he is for the game… and he's only gonna continue to get better. I just told him to keep going, don't stop.”

Barnes has burst onto the scene for Toronto this season. As a rookie, he is posting over 15 points per game, to go along with 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.1 steals and almost a block per game as well. The Raptors young star has also been efficient in his first year in the league, shooting over 49 percent from the field.

During the game Sunday night, the Raptors franchise showed a video honoring Lowry in his return to Toronto. Prior to this season in Miami, Lowry spent the last nine years of his 16-year career with the Raptors. Lowry is second all-time in franchise points behind DeMar DeRozan. He also has the most assists, the most triples and the most steals in Toronto history.

His biggest achievement though was helping the Toronto Raptors climb the mountain and win the NBA Championship in 2019.
