Toronto Raptors superstar small forward Kawhi Leonard has filed a federal lawsuit against Nike.

Per Matthew Kish of the Portland Business Journal, Leonard claims he designed the logo that appeared on his Nike apparel and Nike copyrighted the logo without his consent.

Leonard and Jordan Brand parted ways after the Raptors star turned down a four-year, $22 million extension from them. Kawhi signed with New Balance after.

Kawhi and the Raptors are currently playing in the NBA Finals. The Golden State Warriors won Game 2 up in Toronto, so the series is now tied at 1-1.

Leonard's signature shoe with New Balance sold out pretty much right away after it was released. The New York Times reported last week the Los Angeles Clippers were reportedly trying to buy Leonard's “Klaw” logo from Nike. The Clippers are the team everyone expects to heavily pursue Leonard this summer in free agency.

Kawhi is fully entitled to own his own logo so that no one else can claim it. The three-time All-Star and two-time Defensive Player of the Year has bigger fish to fry at the moment, as the Raptors lost home court advantage in the Finals after losing Game 2.

Leonard's legal team will likely handle the lawsuit against Nike.
