Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry is excited to play on Christmas for the first time in his career.

The Raptors will kick off the league’s five-game Christmas Day schedule when they host the Boston Celtics. It’s the first time the Raptors will host a game on Christmas.

“It’s gonna be cool, man,” Lowry told Josh Lewenberg of TSN. “I’m excited about that. I think it’s something special that NBA players always love to be able to do. And to be able to do it in our home building, it’s gonna be great.

“You’re usually sitting around the TV, you’re with your family and your friends and everybody is watching this. Now you’re playing in it, so it’s going to be cool. It’s like a badge of honor.”

The Raptors are 21-9 on the season. They are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Lowry is averaging 20.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 7.6 assists per game this season. He's shooting 42.1 percent from the field, 36.3 percent from beyond the arc and 86.3 percent from the free-throw line.

Even with the departures of Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green, the Raptors are still one of the best teams in the NBA. Lowry and Co. will look to make Canada proud on Christmas Day by defeating the Celtics.
