For the first time in its franchise's history, the Toronto Raptors have advanced to the NBA Finals. Not only that, they also have the homecourt advantage in their best-of-seven championship series against the two-time defending champions, the Golden State Warriors.

Raptors team president Masai Ujiri is excited about the team hosting its first-ever NBA Finals game on Thursday, and for him, it's a great honor for the city of Toronto.

The Raptors have been one of the best teams in the East over the past couple of years, but they were not able to get past LeBron James' teams in the playoffs. Then last year, the team decided that it's time for some changes, so they traded long-time Raptor DeMar DeRozan to the San Antonio Spurs for Kawhi Leonard.

It didn't start well for the Raptors, as they have struggled early in the season. However, they slowly but surely figured things out, and ended up as the team with the second best record in the East.

The Raptors dominated the first round of the playoffs, beating the Orlando Magic in five games. Then, they faced the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round. They had a hard time beating a team whose best player was battling injuries and illnesses throughout the series. It took a game-winner from Kawhi in Game 7 to propel Toronto to the conference finals.

Then it seemed that the Raptors' run would end there as they lost the first two games of the series against the Milwaukee Bucks. But with the team's adjustments in Game 3, mainly putting Leonard on MVP front-runner Giannis Antetokounmpo, they have managed to win four straight and book a ticket to the Finals.

Now the Raptors will face the Warriors, with Games 1 and 2 going to be played in Toronto. Expect the fans to be loud and the city to show full support to the Eastern Conference Champions, as they try to win the franchise's first ever title.
