As the NBA season winds down and teams begin to prepare for free agency, Kawhi Leonard is set to become a free agent for the first time in his career. With that in mind, Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Paul George has given Leonard some advice on what to expect.

Speaking to Josh Lewenberg about Leonard’s upcoming free agency and how similar it is to Paul George’s experience, George said he’s spoken to Kawhi about it, but didn’t divulge exactly what was said.

“That’s between us,” George said when asked.

The similarity in their situations is unique, as both players are coming to a new team and then facing free agency.

In his first year with the Raptors after missing most of last season in San Antonio, Leonard seems to be back to his old self. Throughout the year, he’s averaging 27 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.8 steals per game, all of which are career highs. With Leonard playing so well, the Raptors have already clinched a playoff spot, and are just two games behind the Milwaukee Bucks for the best record in the NBA.

While George wasted little time in deciding to remain with the Thunder, many in the league seem to think that Leonard’s decision won’t be so easy. It’s been rumored for some time that Leonard would prefer to play in Los Angeles, and with the Lakers and Clippers both prepared to make runs at the superstar, it might be tough for Toronto to keep him around, but a long playoff run might be enough to convince him to stay.
