The Baltimore Ravens have been desperate to add a wide receiver to their passing attack and they are expressing interest in a player who's been involved in the past two Super Bowls. According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Ravens are meeting with Sammy Watkins to possibly improve their wide receiver room.

Watkins is a free agent this offseason after spending the past three years with the Kansas City Chiefs, catching passes from Patrick Mahomes. In his three seasons with the Chiefs, Watkins was utilized as the No. 3 option in the passing game alongside Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. Early reports suggested that Watkins could be headed back to Kansas City in 2021, he doesn't seem to be part of the Chiefs plan anymore. He could be a huge asset for the Ravens moving forward.

After logging a total of 92 receptions, 1,192 receiving yards, and six receiving touchdowns in his first two years with the Chiefs, Watkins notched only 37 receptions for 421 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns in 2020. All of his numbers in 2020 were the lowest marks of his career in seasons. He also missed some games due to injuries which allowed him to only start in nine games.

For the Ravens, it has been well-documented how their offense could desperately use another wide receiver. In the past two seasons, Marquise Brown has operated as the No. 1 wideout option for Baltimore, while Mark Andrews and the Ravens tight ends have led the team in targets.

If the Ravens want Lamar Jackson to take the next step as a quarterback, they'll need to alter their offensive scheme and give the former NFL MVP more pass-catching weapons. Even if the Ravens able to land Watkins in free agency, they should still look to add another wide receiver early in the 2021 NFL Draft.
