In a surprising move earlier in the week, the Arizona Cardinals waived Terrell Suggs. With the Baltimore Ravens possibly reuniting with the linebacker, a return for Suggs could be more complicated than expected.

Following his release from the Cardinals, it was reported that the veteran linebacker would be hesitant on showing up if a team besides the Ravens claimed him. Of course, Suggs spent his first 16 seasons in the NFL in Baltimore.

After the 2018 season, the Ravens chose to allow Suggs to depart in free agency. The talented edge rusher ended up deciding to return to Arizona—where he played college football at Arizona State.

Prior to being waived, the 37-year-old linebacker started in all 13 games for the Cardinals. In those starts, Suggs combined for 37 tackles, 5.5 sacks, eight tackles for loss, and four forced fumbles.

With Suggs still having something left in the tank, Baltimore could be interested in bringing him back for a deep playoff run. But with the Ravens being 12-2, they have the last priority in waivers.

Therefore, another team could choose to sabotage the Ravens and place a claim on Suggs. By doing so, there's a possibility that whatever team claims Suggs could avoid paying him the remaining $352,941 if he does choose to not report to the team.

Provided that, it wouldn't be surprising to see the New England Patriots submit a claim for Suggs. After all, the Patriots could likely be meeting the Ravens again in the AFC Championship game in January.

As for the Ravens, it could be wise to not put a waiver claim in for Suggs. If Suggs is able to clear waivers with no team claiming him, he could sign for the veteran minimum to rejoin the Ravens for the rest of the season.
