Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs recently made headlines for his comments regarding his willingness to accept the potential lingering effects of CTE. This comes at a time when the NFL is doing whatever it can to reduce the instance of head-on collisions.

Suggs will forever be known for his vital role in helping to fuel one of the biggest modern-day rivalries between the Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers. According to Bleacher Report's Tyler Dunne, he acknowledges even wanting to kill former Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward after his infamous blindside hit on Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Keith Rivers:

“We might get into a fight while we’re doing something. You know what I’m saying. It was personal. It was personal. We wanted to kill Hines Ward. I had to threaten him before every play like, ‘If you crack me, I swear to God I’m going to break your f–king neck,'” Suggs said.

“I swear to God, if you hit me like that,” Suggs says he told Ward, “I’m getting thrown out of the f–king league.”

It goes without saying that Ward is one of the most physical receivers in history. His toughness was tailor-made for the gritty AFC North division at the time. However, it is clear that he wanted to no part of Suggs, who has always been as physical as he is brazen.

The NFL has since taken more precautions to ensure that instances such as these are no longer allowed in the league. They have even installed a rule change that will not allow players to lower their head in order to initiate contact.
